Singapore, China and Thailand: Key investors in Myanmar in 2020

A look at the list of “yearly approved amount of foreign investment” in Myanmar by country/region, shows that one does not have to look too far away to spot the leading investors in 2020.

The data used in this Reporting ASEAN infographic came from the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, which comes under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER).

Some points to note: Because Singapore is home to many multinational and foreign companies and regional corporate networks, many of the investments listing it as source country include non-Singaporean entities as well. For its part, the Marshall Islands, which has a compact of free association with the United States, is a major center hosting offshore companies.
